Friends, A few years ago when the computers were introduced, the computer will underline in red colour, the word "COLOUR". It is an indication that it is a spelling mistake.
Then I used to tell people that since the British ruled us for 200 years, we follow British English in India. Hence, we should type "COLOUR" including the letter "U" and not as "COLOR". And also we should spell "CENTRE" with the "E" at the end and not as "CENTER".
However, today in INDIA we have mixed both American and British English and use both formats. Also note that there is no word as "OFFICE TIMINGS" ..both in American English and British English. Only in India we say it.

நண்பர்களே,
கம்ப்யூட்டர் வந்த புதிதில் ஆங்கிலத்தில் ....."colour" என்று "டைப்" அடித்தால், உடனே அது எழுத்துப் பிழை உள்ளது என்று சிகப்பு அடிக்கோடு இட்டுக்காட்டும். உடனே அதை ... color .... என்று மாற்றினால் சிகப்பு அடிக்கோடு மறைந்துவிடும்.
முன்பு இப்படி யாராவது மாற்றுவதைக் கண்டால், நான் ஐயா நாம் 200 ஆண்டுகள் பிரிட்டஷின் கீழ் இருந்ததால் இப்போதும் நாம் பிரிட்டஷ் ஆங்கிலத்தையே பின்பற்றுகிறோம் என்பேன். ஆகையால் ..."U" ...சேர்த்து .... colour ... என்பதே சரி என்பேன். அவர் என்னை சந்தேகக் கண்ணேடு பார்ப்பார்.
சமீபத்தில் ஒரு நண்பரிடம் ... அதே போல .... "centre" ...என்பதற்கு பதிலாக ...."center" ..... "ER"... இடமாறி வரும் என்று தெரிவித்தேன்.
கம்ப்யூட்டர் மயமாக்கத்தின் தாக்கத்தால் நாம் இப்போது இரண்டையும் கலந்து தான் இந்தியாவில் பயன்படுத்துகிறோம் எனலாம். ஆகையால், ஒன்று சரி ஒன்று தவறு என்று உறுதியாக கூறிவிட முடியாது.
கூகுளிடம் இது பற்றி தகவல்கள் கேட்டேன். அப்போது தான் எனக்கு தெரியாத பல வார்த்தைகளை கண்டேன். அவற்றில் சில கீழே உள்ளது.
