VNF - video narration for
Parveen Sultana tells about an interesting incident in her first class.
In that class a teenage student was not concentrating in the class and was writing something else. That boy was very tall. At first she was a little afraid, to scold that boy. Later she found he had written a poem on a girl with whom he had fallen in love - of course, infatuation. And now that girl is in the twelveth standard, while this boy is yet to clear the 9 th standard.
She tells that instead of scolding him, she motivated him to write more poems. She tells that the boy asked a poem book written by the great Tamil poet, Barathidasan. She praises the boy for that. She tells when compared with him she was nothing. And that she is a king sitting in a majestic throne, while we teachers are just his people or subjects.
Parveen Sultana reads out the poem written by that student. She explains it line by line. She is wonder-struck at his excellent words usage. Wow, her eyes and face seems to be sparkling like stars and moon. And also seems to be playing bharatha natiyam, dance, changing expressions in a matter of seconds.
We can understand that her speech, which was given to a big group of college students, had kept them captivated.
Wow ! I have become a great fan of Parveen Sultana.
She told that she will be like a PLAYFUL ELEPHANT while not taking classes. But once she starts her class, she will become like a MIGHTY ELEPHANT in the war front or like a tyrant. Even the college superiors can't disturb her during her class hours. She tells that it was made possible on;y because of her passion on her subject, viz. Tamil language.
SIMILARITY TO MY TEACHING STYLE
At this juncture, I can't help recalling certain things from my life. I too feel that I have some of the characteristics of this dynamic lady.
Yes, while running an English Institute, I did almost the same.
While not taking classes I will be VERY FRIENDLY to my school-going and college-going students. But once my alarm beeps, I will immediately change into a STRICT TEACHER.
My classes will be perfectly timed. I will be frequently setting an alarm in my mobile to declare the STARTING AND ENDING OF MY CLASSES.
However, immediately after my class, I will engage myself with my students in many playful activities. All my students enjoyed it too.
This speech of Parveen Sultana had really triggered my thoughts. I wrote this especially for my Engineering college Online English student. I am trying to motivate him to write something like this, after watching an interesting video.

poem written by 9 th standard student
