FOREWORD : This is a text version of the Tamil Interview of FORMER S P - KALIYAMURTHY on the NEWS-7 TV CHANNEL.
No doubt he is a great inspiration for the next generation. Even I will have to try to emulate lot of character traits from him - humble nature, deep love for Tamil language and 100% sincerity in work.

Sir, How you became a Confidante of two former Chief Ministers of TN?
Can you please explain us the secret behind it?
MR KALIYAMURTHY SAYS - I am now retired, so I can tell certain facts. And of course, all are good things.
Selvi J Jayalalitha was very bold. She was very smart too.
And Kalignar Karunanidhi was a hard worker and very intelligent.
You are asking about my personal experiences with them. Yes, of course, I will share a few.
Let me tell about Selvi J Jayalalitha, first.
You know that there is a protocol for receiving petitions from the public. Generally all petitions to the CM will be collected by officials and it will be given to me and in turn I will give it to Selvi J Jayalalitha.
Let me narrate an incident.
That day there was a cancer operation done to my mom. My mom is 95 now [July 2019] and my greatest inspiration in life. She had breast cancer then. She is fine as of today. On that day, in Applo Hospital - Dr Hemandaraj had to do an operation on her.
Then I was the local Depty Commissioner. However, I didn't take leave on that day because I was involved in the security arrangements for CM Selvi J Jayalalitha.
The traveling time between Poe's Garden and the Secretariat was exactly 8 minutes. That day I didn't have enough time to drive from the hospital to the Secretariat. Anyway, I had an excellent car driver, Rajendran. I told him to drive fast so that I can reach the Secretariat at least one minute before Selvi J Jayalalitha reaches.
We were almost there. However, Selvi J Jayalalitha's car turned in the Binny Road but she saw my car screeching in.
I WANT TO TELL HOW ABLE ADMINISTRATORS BEHAVE.
Then when I met her and gave the petitions, she asked :
WHY SO FAST ? YOU MAY YOURSELF GOT INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT.
I said - SORRY MADAM and she went in.
I think Selvi J Jayalalitha PA No.1 had told her that my mother had an operation that day. Then she called me and confronted me.
WHY HAVE NOT YOU INFORMED ME BEFOREHAND? YOU SHOULD HAVE TAKEN LEAVE.
Then I explained her that her security is more important. Hence, I didn't take leave. Then I came away.
Then a week later, my mom got well and we were getting ready to pay the bills and check out of the hospital.
I had pooled in about Rs. 2.25 lakhs from different sources. I took the cash to the counter to pay it. But I was told that CM - Selvi J Jayalalitha had paid the bill on behalf of me. My mom was also there. It was a pleasant surprise.
Next day I got a permission and met her with a bouquet and the cash. When I met her, she asked me,
HOW IS YOUR MOM?
I said she was fine. But when I gave the cash she refused to accept it from me. I told that I will not forget this in my lifetime, because she had done it to my mother.
She told - YOU RICHLY DESERVE IT.
Then after some years, I got an Accelerated Promotion.
CM Selvi J Jayalalitha stopped her car, on the way and told me,
FROM TODAY YOU ARE
DEPUTY COMMISSIONER OF POLICE, NOT ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER.
Immediately - police officers were enquiring why the CMs CONVOY was stopped in-between.
They were told - CM IS TALKING WITH KALIYAMURTHY.
When she lost her election in 2005 - we all went to meet her and she asked,
WHY ARE YOU ALL HERE ? THE NEXT GOVERNMENT HAD COME ?
I told - YOU ARE STILL OUR CM, MADAM - YOU HAVE NOT GIVEN YOUR RESIGNATION. WE CAN'T GO AWAY JUST LIKE THAT AND UNTIL WE GET PROPER INSTRUCTIONS.
I was a bit close to her - hence I quoted a Tamil song -
அற்ற குளத்து அறு நீர் பறவை போல் ..
She told - WHENEVER YOU ARE NEAR ME, I FEEL VERY SECURE. FROM TOMORROW, I AM GOING TO MISS YOUR SMILING FACE AND A GOOD POLICE OFFICER.
She also attended my daughter's marriage. She also helped for the studies of my children.
Then after the government changed I was transferred to VEERAPURAM. Then after one year there, Police Officer Jaffar Syed IPS called me to get my willingness to get transferred to Trichy.
He said - I am going to refer your name to the then CM, Kalignar Karunanidhi.
Further he said - There was great unrest between two gangsters and I may have to resort to an encounter to suppress it.
I told humbly, I will go there if he wanted me to go.
Then he had told about me to Kalignar Karunanidhi who also agreed for that.
Then that police officer asked me -
Hey, why haven't you informed me that you already know him very well?
I said - Sorry Sir, I didn't know him personally.
But this was the matter - I enquired with him and came to know later.
[Another incident]
There was a big cut-out of Kalignar Karunanidhi in front of DMK office - Arivalayam. It was there for many years.
But this was en route of Selvi J Jayalalitha's path. So they decided to remove it and place Selvi J Jayalalitha's cut-out there.
On that day, both DMK and ADMK people were quarrelling about this issue. This happened at 5 am. Then Kalignar Karunanidhi was doing his regular walking inside Arivalayam.
Of course, you know that it is really very challenging to talk with the former CM when you are working under another CM.
Kalignar got my phone number from other officer and called me in fancy number 3335555, that I remember even now. He told that the cut-out was there for many years, and it was not fair to remove it.
He said, "If the cut-out opposite Arivalayam is replaced with Selvi J Jayalalitha's cut-out, I myself will stage an agitation".
I calmly said that I fully agreed to that point and if it happens I would myself REPLACE IT.
He said, "LET ME SEE" and disconnected the phone call.
I skipped my morning jogging and went straight to the spot.
I said to the party men there in a stern voice, "Please arrange for a new scaffolding nearby and erect Selvi J Jayalalitha's cut out there. Please don't disturb the existing cut-out." Finally it ended amicably. But one ADMK supporter told in a threatening way, "I WILL TAKE THE MATTER TO CM Selvi J Jayalalitha AND SEE THAT YOU ARE DEALT WITH ACCORDINGLY".
I calmly went away smiling for this comment.
When I sat in my car, again Kalignar called me and said - "OH, YOU ARE A GREAT PERSON MAN".
I humbly said - "SIR, I WILL BE GLAD, IF YOU DON'T CONGRATULATE ME FOR THIS".
He too understood and chuckled
and blessed me with the words, "NALLA ERU".
Then I went to the spot where CM Selvi J Jayalalitha was to inaugurate an EYE HOSPITAL on that day. I think it was in the third floor. She was about to enter the lift. I wished Selvi J Jayalalitha and she enquired whether anything important was there to be discussed.
I said - "YES".
She called me inside the lift along with her. I thought before the ADMK supporters tell this matter to the CM Selvi J Jayalalitha - it is better, if I tell it myself.
In the lift I said, "Kalignar called me ... ". She was surprised to hear that.
"... I said he talked with me about an issue and I think what he told was fair and correct".
I explained that they can alternatively erect a new SAARAM [SCAFFOLDING] nearby and fix her cut-out there.
She was wondering what was the meaning of the Tamil word, -
SAARAM. People there and I explained it as a scaffolding.
She almost laughed and told why are these funny guys making a big problem for this. Can't they afford even to erect a new scaffolding.
When we came out of the lift, all ADMK supporters were ready to inform the problem to her. But she scolded them and instructed them to erect a new scaffolding nearby.
[Another incident]
I was about to be posted in Trichy as S P. You should appreciate his memory power. Then Kalignar Karunanidhi had remembered me and commented -
"IS THAT THE MAN SPORTING BIG MOUSTACHE - HEY, WHY ARE YOU DISTURBING HIM. HE IS A NICE GUY".
However, officials convinced him that he is a talented person and that is why we need his services at Trichy.
IF YOU BOLDLY SPEAK OUT THE TRUTH - AND WORK EFFICIENTLY AND EFFECTIVELY - BOTH YOUR HIGHER POLICE OFFICERS AND THE RULERS WILL SEEK AND UTILISE YOUR SERVICES APPROPRIATELY.
OF COURSE, THEY DEFINITELY NEED EFFICIENT PEOPLE TO RUN THEIR ADMINISTRATION AND CONTROL THE LAW AND ORDER IN THE STATE.
Both Selvi J Jayalalitha and Kalignar Karunanidhi are great in their own ways.
INTERVIEWER - Sir, it was very illuminating hearing you talk about the finer sides of the two great personalities of Tamilnadu - Selvi J Jayalalitha and Kalignar Karunanidhi.
